Amazing new achievement in online singing!
Hi fans of live online singing,
Good things are happening!
Check out this performance of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by London City Voices — 35 people singing together, live, via Jamulus, with the audio sent to Zoom so that 55 other chorus members can sing along. Just amazing. A product like OBS can be used to stream the entire thing to YouTube.
And last Sunday, we all had great fun singing in harmony together at SingOnline.org’s sixth Song Circle, with songs like Heather Houston’s Tending the Spark! We were blessed with guest songleader Arnaé Batson, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and producer who is widely regarded for her work with the internationally acclaimed ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock, and her own The SSING Network, the Hearts Afire Community Choir, and the Voices Raised - LA Vocal Collective. Check out a wonderful song of hers here, and join her Tuesday evening SSING-IN here -- it's awesome, I've been there!
This month’s Song Circle beneficiary was The Quiet Voice Fund, supporting organizations responding to the 1900% increase in anti-Asian crime over the past year.
Finally, the American Guild of Musical Artists, in consultation with three doctors, has published a comprehensive guide to singing and performing in-person during COVID. I particularly recommend looking at Special Considerations for Singers on pages 34-36, which also has a link to a "singer's mask," and Appendix 4, on planning how to use a space, on page 43. Rays of light, rays of hope.
Keep singing,
Marv
