Live Song Circle Next Sunday!

Hi singers — I’m still flying high from…yes, that, but also Maggie Wheeler’s Together in Song yesterday. Maggie, who graced us with her warmth and song at SingOnline.org’s October Song Circle, has led 29 Saturday Zoom sings since the start of the pandemic, and yesterday’s was extraordinary. Ysäye Barnwell, Melanie DeMore, Emma’s Revolution, and 350 of us sang songs of celebration and hope. If you’d like to join us in the future, go here.

In other news:

  • The WorldJam folks in the U.K. have a live Jamulus-based show every Saturday; check out the latest show here. If you want a quick example of what’s possible using Jamulus, scroll to 1:02:00 and check that tune out.

  • If you haven’t already downloaded it, I highly recommend checking out my friend and mentor Lisa G. Littlebird’s Fall 2020 Community Singing Playlist. Get a ton of wonderful songs and help support many of the leaders of our Community Singing movement during this challenging time. This and other community singing resources can be found on the Links page of the SingOnline.org site.

  • There’s a new version of Jamulus (3.6.0); you can get it (free) here. If you’re in our Song Circle, please make sure to upgrade, and remember, if you’re on a Mac, the first time you run it you need to hold down Control on your keyboard, click once on Jamulus, and select Open from the pop-up menu.

  • And also, if you’re in our Song Circle, please make sure you’re running the latest version of Zoom. Run Zoom and select Check for Updates from the zoom.us menu.

Speaking of which, our Song Circle is next Sunday, November 15, 4:00-5:00 Pacific, and there are still some spaces open. Message me through the Contact page or email me at marvsingonline at gmail dot com if you might be interested, and I’ll give you the details. I predict people are gonna be more energized to sing than ever!
