A short-cut to your own online singing group; Song Circle Sunday 9/26

Hi Singers!

I hope this post finds you and yours well. Because in-person singing has been shrinking because of Delta, and because some of us have discovered that it can be a gift to sing with people who are up to ~1000 miles away, live online singing tools are continuing to get better and better. To wit:

  • Check out Melomax. They’re one of several companies now offering (for a price) to provide your Jamulus server, if you’d like to launch your own online song circle or choir. You can still follow the instructions on the SingOnline.org site to set up your own server, if you like, but I find it’s great (and relatively inexpensive) to delegate this part of the tech to someone else for the SingOnline.org Song Circle. I’ve been using Melomax’s servers for a while now with only occasional problems that get ironed out quickly. (Other server-providers I’ve heard of but haven’t used include Syncspace.live and Koord.live)

And, the next SingOnline.org Song Circle, where you can sing contemporary, easy-to-learn songs taught in the oral tradition (no need to read music!) with wonderful people and see and hear every word from everyone online, will be next Sunday, September 26, 3:45-5:00pm Pacific. I’ll be holding optional 20-minute Info Sessions about the Circle this week on Zoom:

  • Monday, Sept. 20, 5:30pm Pacific (register here)

  • Monday, Sept. 20, 7:30pm Pacific (register here)

  • Tuesday, Sept. 21, 5:30pm Pacific (register here)

Email me at Marv at SingOnline dot org with questions.

Keep singing,

Marv
